About Us
The Youth Support Program matches UC Berkeley students as mentors to students at Willard Middle School.

Our mentors must commit at least one year to working with a child in order to foster a stable, caring relationship. They volunteer three hours a week with their mentee, spending at least one hour on tutoring or homework help and two hours on mentoring activities such as talking, playing sports, hanging out at lunch or after school on campus, attending YSP events, and going on field trips.

Staff

The Youth Support Program has three full time staff in the office--our Program Coordinator, Academic Coordinator, and College Project Developer--as well as Cal Corps student volunteer manager to support the mentors, mentees, and school community.

Team Leaders

Team Leaders are mentors who want to take a more active role in YSP. They apply for the position at the end of the school year and are the liaisons between mentors and office staff. Their role is to offer support to their team of mentors as well as plan events, facilitate meetings, and help run the program in general.

Mentors

Mentors are the heart of the Youth Support Program. Every year YSP recruits 100 volunteer mentors to work with students at Willard Middle School. In addition to providing social, behavioral, and academic support to the Willard Students, mentors offer mentees life enhancing enrichment opportunities.

Teachers

Our wonderful teachers offer math or English tutoring skills, promote a positive, friendly and encouraging learning environment, and provide consistent support to students in the form of regular after school classes.

Partners

Our partners provide valued services and donations and are our links to the community. Please take a moment to check them out.
