Our Team
The Youth Support Program has two program coordinators, one full-time and one half-time. Together they work with the two Cal Corps Bonner Leaders and a group of volunteer team leaders to support the mentors, mentees, and school community.
Dawn Brown
Program Manager, Oakland After School Programs
Bio: Marian Wright Edelman said "If we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much." I believe all children possess the qualities to do amazing things. I believe we are representations of our most dominant thought and possess within us the power to effectively change communities – large and small. Feel free to stop by and say hello. We love visitors. Interests/Hobbies: Running, reading, bike riding, spending time with friends and family, watching movies with my daughter, listening to country music, drinking tea, and providing quality trainings.

Bio: I believe in never letting opportunities pass you by, growing healthy food on your balcony, laughing and enjoying life, working with your friends and neighbors to create a better world, and the power of students to change lives. I have been with YSP for five years and I wouldn’t still be here if I didn’t sincerely believe in the power of the program and all of our wonderful mentors, mentees, and community supporters.Interests/Hobbies: Traveling, Sewing, Eating, Piranha Fishing, Gardening/Farming, Running, Writing, Politics, Talking, Going on Adventures.

Chenghong Zou (Isabelle)
Program Assistant and Chan Fellow
Bio: I am a new Fellow in the W.T. Chan Fellowships Program. And I am also asenior student in Lingnan(University) College, Sun Yat-sen University,
Guangzhou, China. My major is International Economy and Trade.
In Lingnan College, I was a debater, a cheerleader, and a leader in the
Buddy Program for foreign exchange students. But now, in YSP, I am the
program assistant. It gives me an even greater opportunity to experience and
learn by working with the wonderful team leaders and mentors from UCB, and
Willard Middle School students. From this program, I can see the power of
mentors is just making a difference now. I feel honored in this position,
and I am trying my best to support the program, hoping the make this program
better and better.
Interest/Hobbies: dancing, music, watching movies, swimming, bike-riding,
talking with friends, learning new things about the world.

Megan Dalessio
Bonner Leader - Mentoring
Bio: I’m a 4th year Cal student, majoring in Social Welfare and minoring in City and Regional Planning. Having served as a mentor and after school co-coordinator, I am looking forward to working as a Bonner Leader within YSP. Interests/Hobbies: When not scooping delicious ice cream cones at Ici, she likes to cook, knit, hike, and do yoga.
Favorite movie: I’m almost always down to watch Anchorman.

Team Leaders:
Team Leaders are mentors who want to take a more active role in YSP. They apply for the position at the end of the school year and are the liaisons between mentors and office staff. Their role is to offer support to their team of mentors as well as plan events, facilitate meetings, and help run the program in general.
Marybeth Baluyot

Bio- I was born in the Philippines, and from there I moved to over seven different cities, including Berkeley. Now I am a resident of and student [sophomore] at Berkeley attempting to major in Psychology and Linguistics. Not including my younger siblings, I have been tutoring and mentoring youth for four years, but this will be my second semester with the Youth Support Program. It brings me great pleasure to see so many people interested in volunteering for organizations like these, not only because it opens our eyes to the people who set aside their busy lives to reach out to their community or other communities in need but also because there are so so many communities in need.Interests/Hobbies- Tutoring, Playing Soccer, Biking, Hiking, Cooking, Listening to Music, and of course, Sleeping

Bio: I am from a tiny town called Hopland in Northern California, and I am currently a second year intended Spanish major. I plan to study education in grad school, and I eventually want to be a teacher. This is my second year with YSP, and I am very excited to get started!Interests/Hobbies: I love to play basketball and tennis, go snowboarding, watch movies, go on runs with my dog, listen to and play music, cook, read, sunbathe and swim, and so much more!

About Me: Hi! My name Raynard. I'm a 4th year UC Berkeley student with a major in Urban Studies. I will be graduating in May 2012. I am of Filipino descent, born in Oakland and have resided in the Bay Area my entire life. My mentee is Alejandro and you can usually find us on the Willard campus running around or playing games/sports.Interests/Hobbies: Hiking, camping, sightseeing, exploring new places, food, hats.

Scarlett McIntosh

I am a 3rd year UC Berkeley student born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. I am majoring in Anthropology and Psychology and am hoping to pick up a minorin Education. I have been with the Youth Support Program since I started at
Berkeley and am now a team leader. My team leader position will soon be put on hold because next semester I am travelling across the equator to study abroad in South Africa! Outside of my classes and YSP, I work on campus at Cal Performances and have become a Research Assistant at the Institute of
Human Development working with infants and toddlers.
When I have a chance to get away from my busy college life, I love listening to music, catching up on TV shows, and watching movies. I also enjoy doing crafts, as well as baking and cooking with my house mates. I live off campus in a house with 10 other girls which can be pretty chaotic but I always have someone to hang out with.
My favorite movie is Big Daddy (or basically, any Adam Sandler movie).
I would have to say the song I sing most in the shower is 'My Girl' by The Temptations.

Hola, Hello, Bonjour, Buon giorno, Ahn nyeong ha sey yo :D My name is
Alejandra. I am from Maywood a small city in Southern California. I am
currently a 2nd year student at UC Berkeley, intended Public Health major.
This is my second year with YSP and I just love it, through YSP I've gotten the chance to give back to a community, and spread the knowledge I've acquired throughout the years to my mentee, who I hope one day will do the same. I believe we all have a lot to learn from each other and this is a good way to spread one's knowledge.
Interests/Hobbies: When I am not busying being a student or an adult, I love to paint, learn new languages, go for long runs, or horse back riding. And if I am feeling like relieving some stress a good old game of softball always helps.

Holly Stevens
Bonner Leader - Enrichment Program
My name is Holly and I am the Enrichment Class Coordinator. This is mylast year at UC Berkeley and I am majoring in Environmental Economics and Policy.
Besides working at Willard I teach a Decal on campus and I am a member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. I love to hike and read. My favorite place to study is in the botanical gardens because I love gardening and the outdoors.
I would have to say my favorite movie is Gone With the Wind. As far as favorite song goes, it changes all the time.
I love country music and right now my favorite song is called "Barefoot Blue Jean Night."

Hey guys! I am the Donations Coordinator for YSP. I am from Pasadena, CA near Los Angeles. I am a 2nd year and am majoring in History with an emphasis on American History. I love music and I sing and play the flute. I'm terrible at all sports, but I love watching them. I am a hardcore Lakers fan. My favorite artists are the Beatles, Adele, Fleet Foxes, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
My favorite movie is the Sound of Music.
Kaycee Hasan
Coordinator Position:
My name is Kaycee Hasan. I am from oakland, ca (born and raised) and I am a fourth year at the University of California. Currently, I am a declared social welfare and African American studies double major with the intent on moving forward to a post-grad institution to obtain my MSW/MBA. I am very interested and committed to helping the young people in my community, and hope to one day become an Academic Counselor for secondary or higher education institutions. When I am not buried in school work, I like to relax at home and hang out with friends.I have a fascination with cars and I would one day like to own one for every day of the week

I’m a senior at UC Berkeley(Go Bears!) and am double majoring in
Psychology and Social Welfare and minoring in Spanish. I’m from a
small town called Saratoga in Northern California, but trust me when I say, Berkeley is MUCH more exciting. When I’m not hanging out at Willard, I love to laugh, bake, run, watch sports, practice yoga, watch classic movies, travel, and spend time with family and friends. I’ve been involved in YSP ever since I transferred to Berkeley last Spring and am currently the Mentee Coordinator! I also work at Groove Yoga and am a research assistant in the School of Social Welfare. I’m going abroad to Madrid next semester, but you’ll see me back next Fall! I hope to do Teach For America after college and then go to law
school to be a criminal law public defender!
Favorite movie: I’ve seen She’s the Man about 50 times, but it cracks me up every time I watch it.

My Name is Kanesha Pompey. I am from Los Angeles and am a 3rd year at UC Berkeley. I am majoring in Environmental Science, the biological emphasis, and am very interested in soil. I hope to be a soil scientist when I graduate from Cal. My favorite song right now is Loser like me by the glee cast. I can’t choose one favorite movie but definitely in my top 10 is The Mummy Returns.

Coordinator Position: Participation Coordinator
Bio: I grew up in Northern California and this year I am a Senior at Cal. I studied abroad in Italy last year (traveled a lot and ate delicious food!!!), but I am so excited to be back! I want to be an elementaryschool teacher when I grow up and I LOVE my mentee!
Interests/Hobbies: I love playing sports (especially basketball and soccer) and doing things outdoors like running and hiking and swimming. I am obsessed with hot chocolate and anything sweet.
